The science and literature of Uzbekistan suffered a severe separation.
Naim Karimov, a famous scientist in the field of philology, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, died on September 17 of this year at the age of 91.
N. Karimov was born on December 12, 1932 in Tashkent. In 1955, he graduated from the State University of Central Asia (now the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek) and studied at the graduate school of this higher educational institution.
A hardworking and selfless scientist who started his career in 1958 at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan (now the Institute of Uzbek Language, Literature and Folklore) worked as senior and leading researcher, head of department. He defended his candidacy in 1962, and his doctoral thesis in 1993. From 2002 to 2008, he was the chairman of the charity fund "Memorial of Martyrs" and the head of the museum "Memorial of Repression Victims". made a significant contribution to the training of qualified scientific-pedagogical personnel.
N. Karimov conducted extensive fundamental research and research on the study of Uzbek literature of the 20th century and created a unique school in this direction. In particular, many monographs and researches, educational novels and more than a thousand scientific articles, a number of textbooks and manuals for the science of literature was added as a worthy contribution.
In 2017, he was elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan for his many years of effective service in the field of science.
The scientist's services in comprehensively studying the exemplary life and activities of our devoted intellectuals who were repressed during the years of the authoritarian regime, popularizing their scientific and educational heritage, were recognized not only in our country, but also by the scientific community of foreign countries.
In addition to skillfully translating a number of masterpieces of world literature into Uzbek, Serqirra Olim took an active part in creating about twenty documentaries on historical topics.
Many candidates of sciences and doctors were trained under his direct leadership.
Academician N. Karimov's services to the development of science in our country were duly awarded by our state. He was awarded the honorary titles of "Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan", "Honored Youth Coach of the Republic of Uzbekistan", the Order of "Respect of the Country" and State Awards of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The memory of Naim Karimov, a famous scientist, a kind teacher, a sincere and humble person, will always remain in our hearts.
