President Sadyr Japarov said that he awarded the title of Hero (Baatyr) of the Kyrgyz Republic to the head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev for the return of Kyrgyz lands in an agreement with Uzbekistan. He said this on May 12 at a meeting with candidates for deputies in the Leninsky single-mandate constituency, Kloop.kg reports.

According to him, the delegation headed by Tashiev traveled to Tashkent for a year and a half, and through the efforts of the head of the State Committee for National Security, they managed to return the 19-hectare Gavasay site, which was transferred to the Uzbek SSR during the Soviet era. The Gavasay site is located in the village of Kok-Tash in the Ala-Buka district of the Jalal-Abad region and is used as a pasture.

"These lands were returned with great difficulty. Yes, there were disputes, conflicts, the parties even scattered folders and left with obscenities ... Therefore, I awarded him the title of hero, since his contribution remained in history. Many wrote that the president awarded the title to my friend. But I want to note that history will give its assessment," Zhaparov said.

The highest degree of distinction "Kyrgyz Respublikasynyn Baatyr" was awarded to the head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev on September 1, 2022. The decree, which was then signed by the president, said that the award was given to Tashiev "for special services to the state and people of Kyrgyzstan."

Japarov said that he awarded the title of Hero to Tashiev for the fact that the head of the State Committee for National Security "stopped the conflict and reconciled the peoples" during the events that threatened the unity of the Kyrgyz people. At the same time, Sadyr Japarov did not explain what events he was talking about.

At the end of 2022, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan signed laws on the ratification of the Treaty between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on certain sections of the state border and the Agreement on the joint management of water resources of the Kempirabad (Andijan) reservoir.
