President in Jizzakh: New growth points, infrastructure and nuclear energy projects reviewed

On December 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Jizzakh to identify new growth points in the region, review ongoing projects, and participate in an extraordinary session of the Regional Council of People's Deputies.

The visit began with the inspection of a new overpass connecting the regional center with the M-39 international highway. Built at a cost of nearly 290 billion soums, the 700-meter overpass and 4-kilometer new road can accommodate more than 14,000 vehicles per day. As a result, the previous 25-kilometer detour was shortened, and traffic congestion was eliminated. The service life of the overpass, constructed using modern metal structures, is estimated at 100 years.

The President also received information on the nuclear power plant being built in Jizzakh. Excavation work has begun for two large and two small-capacity reactors. Temporary housing, concrete production facilities, and assembly bases have been set up at the construction site. A modern mono-city designed to accommodate 10,000 NPP employees is planned for construction.

The head of state reviewed the master plan for upgrading the regional center, the renovation program, and projects such as an IT center, a handicraft center, and several infrastructure initiatives.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited the Automotive Engineering School at Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute to observe the dual education system organized in cooperation with BYD Uzbekistan Factory and ADM Jizzakh. Students undergo practical training based on BYD standards, work on a mini-conveyor, and earn a special certificate.

Short-term courses, skill-enhancement programs for youth and specialists, and applied industrial laboratories have also been established. The President observed the training process and spoke with students.

During the visit, issues related to agriculture, healthcare, education, and public services were also discussed, and specific instructions were given to responsible officials.
