President gives instructions to accelerate WTO accession

The President reviewed the presentation on accelerating Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization. The presentation discussed the work done in 2025 and the priority tasks for completing the accession process in 2026. It was reported that good results were achieved in the negotiations on WTO accession over the past year. Two meetings of the working group were held, answers to more than 200 questions were provided to the organization's members, and more than 30 documents on foreign trade were presented. More than 40 meetings were held within the framework of bilateral negotiations, and agreements were reached with 11 more countries in 2025 alone. As a result, the number of countries that have completed negotiations on WTO membership with Uzbekistan has reached 33. Currently, the procedure for registering intellectual property has been simplified, some restrictions on exports have been abolished, and the practice of setting minimum export prices has been abandoned.
A number of innovations have also been introduced in the areas of technical regulation, sanitary and phytosanitary regulations. Mandatory certification requirements for certain products have been reduced, and food safety control has been transferred to the relevant competent authorities. At the end of the presentation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions to those responsible for the high-quality completion of the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO in 2026.
