Presentation of the documentary film “Tree of Generations” took place

The public association “Azerbaijan Journalists Network” (AJN) held a presentation of the documentary film “Tree of Generations”, dedicated to the theme of the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their native lands.

According to AZERTAC, the film tells about our compatriots, famous families, representatives of the intelligentsia and generations deported from Western Azerbaijan.

Based on the history of several families, the film is a kind of encyclopedia; it is based on ancient history, ethnography, cuisine, the life and work of famous personalities and the wounded human destinies of people from Western Azerbaijan.

The film notes that Azerbaijanis living on the territory of what is now Armenia were subjected to mass deportation four times in the 20th century. During these deportations, more than a million Azerbaijanis were forced to leave their homes and were sentenced to life as refugees. Despite this, Western Azerbaijanis preserve their traditions and pass them on to future generations. Although the branches of their “generation tree” are here, its roots are in Western Azerbaijan. They have experienced great tragedies and difficult times, but they always look forward to the day when they return to their native lands.

The filming took place in Baku, as well as in Goygol, Goranboy and Ganja, where our compatriots from Western Azerbaijan settled compactly after the Armenians forcibly deported them from their native lands.

Scriptwriter - Ayaz Mirzoev, producer - Elnur Niftaliev, director - Zyaka Guliyev, cameraman - Vugar Shikhaliev, editing director - Elmar Tarieloglu.

The film “Tree of Generations” was shot as part of the documentary film project “We want to return to our homeland”, implemented with the financial support of the Agency for State Support of Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
