Powerful earthquake hits Colombia: tremors also felt in Ecuador
A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on August 10. The disaster killed 47 people and caused several buildings to collapse. The tremors were also felt in neighboring Ecuador.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake’s epicenter was located near San José del Palmar, about 400 kilometers west of Bogotá. The earthquake occurred at a considerable depth.
