Poverty rates in Uzbekistan will be lowered to 6% by the end of 2025

On September 17, during the 3rd International Forum “From Poverty to Prosperity” held in Namangan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that Uzbekistan plans to reduce the poverty rate to 6 percent by the end of 2025.

In recent years, 7.5 million people have been lifted out of poverty, and in 2024 the rate decreased to 8.9 percent. According to the head of state, economic growth, rising household incomes, and targeted social assistance have been key factors in achieving these results.

The President noted that by 2030, Uzbekistan has the opportunity to completely eradicate absolute poverty.
