Police Officer Punished After the Death of a 3-Year-Old Girl in Surxondaryo

In May this year, a three-year-old girl was stabbed to death in a marketplace by a mentally ill woman. Following the girl’s death, a preventive inspector was held accountable. The woman who committed the stabbing had previously committed a crime and was supposed to be sent for compulsory psychiatric treatment. However, the preventive inspector failed to enforce the court’s decision. As a result, the woman attacked and fatally stabbed the girl, who was walking with her mother in the market.

According to the court ruling, officer A.R. was found guilty of negligence in duty that led to a person’s death. He was sentenced to three years of restricted freedom and barred from serving in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 2 years and 6 months.
