Plane unable to land due to air traffic controller falling asleep

An Air Corsica plane flying from Paris to Corsica was unable to land at the airport for 20 minutes. The reason was that the airport’s only air traffic controller had fallen asleep during his shift.

The crew was forced to keep the plane circling in the air. Emergency services were called on the ground to wake the controller. The captain of the plane said that passengers did not take the situation seriously and even laughed.
