At least 10 people were killed and more than 60 injured on September 5 when fireworks exploded during a festival in the village of Santa María Canches, in the Mexican state of Mexico.
The incident occurred during a local ceremony. Participants were carrying a straw-covered, bull-shaped structure rigged with fireworks. Sparks from the structure ignited a pyrotechnics storage area near the church, triggering a powerful explosion that caused the building's walls to collapse. The Mexican Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.
