Pensioner fined for feeding stray cats dies in Chirchiq
A 73-year-old pensioner in Chirchiq, Tashkent Region, has died after previously being fined 1,236,000 UZS for feeding stray cats.
According to the Mehr va Oqibat Society, the woman took the fine very hard and said she could not stop feeding the cats because they waited for her every day. Documents had been prepared to appeal the fine in court. However, when a volunteer arrived to obtain her signature, no one answered the door. Emergency Ministry personnel later entered the house and found the woman's body.
The cause of her death has not yet been officially announced.
