Passenger plane crashes in Kazakhstan

On December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan. The Azari Press Agency reported that the plane had issued a distress signal over the Caspian Sea and was heading towards Kazakhstan for an emergency landing. The crash was reportedly caused by a collision with a flock of birds.
The base reported that there were 67 passengers and five crew members on board. According to "Ostorozhno, Novosti", there were 107 people on board. According to preliminary information, there are survivors.
