Parents who involve their children in illegal religious education face fines of up to 5.6 million soums or imprisonment

Additions and amendments have been made to the Law “On Guarantees of the Rights of the Child” in Uzbekistan.
Now parents can raise their children in accordance with their personal beliefs, but education through unlicensed organizations or individuals without religious education is prohibited.
If this offense is committed for the first time, a fine of 5-10 times the basic calculation amount (1 million 875 thousand - 3 million 750 thousand soums) is imposed. In case of a repeat offense, the fine may increase by 10-15 times or imprisonment for up to 15 days.
