Parents in Kashkadarya jailed for attempting to sell their 14-year-old son.

A married couple in Kashkadarya was sentenced to three years in prison for attempting to sell their 14-year-old son for $45,000.
Reports indicate that the parents agreed to sell their child in order to clear family debts. The plan involved an initial payment of $30,000 for the boy, followed by a payment of 200 million soums fifteen days later.
On August 8, 2025, they traveled with their child to the Angor district of Surkhandarya and were apprehended during a sting operation while accepting the agreed-upon money. The cash had been chemically treated beforehand.
The Termez District Court for Criminal Cases found the parents guilty of human trafficking under Article 135, Part 3, Clause "b" of the Criminal Code. Each was sentenced to three years of imprisonment.
