In 2025, the concentration of PM2.5 fine particles in the air in Pakistan exceeded the World Health Organization (WHO) standard by 13 times, becoming extremely dangerous for human health.
According to a report by IQAir, 130 areas in 143 countries and 9,446 cities around the world did not meet WHO standards. The most polluted cities are Loni in India (112.5 µg/m³) and Khotan in China (109.6 µg/m³).
The cleanest city is Newwoodville (South Africa), with a PM2.5 level of just 1 µg/m³.
