Over 1 billion soums in budget funds embezzled at Uzbekistan's Migration Agency
The Department under the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan has uncovered the embezzlement of more than 1 billion soums in state budget funds at the Migration Agency.
According to the preliminary investigation, agency officials paid 931.6 million soums in salaries to two employees who had not actually been working.
In addition, eight employees who were under disciplinary sanctions were unlawfully paid another 88.5 million soums.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 167 of the Criminal Code (embezzlement or misappropriation of property), and the investigation is ongoing.
