Outcomes of the Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan Summit

High-level talks were held at the Kuksaroy Residence between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The discussions began in a narrow format and continued with the participation of delegations from both countries.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized that the state visit of the Turkmen leader is a strong indication of the centuries-old friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

Trade and Economic Cooperation:

• Over the past years, bilateral trade turnover has doubled and exceeded $1 billion.

• The parties agreed to expand the range of traded goods and increase trade volume to $2 billion.

• The newly launched “Shovot–Toshhovuz” joint cross-border trade zone marks a new stage of cooperation. A similar project will later be implemented in the “Olot–Farab” region.

Industry, Energy, and Transport:

• The parties discussed expanding joint projects in construction materials, pharmaceuticals, and the food industry.

• Agreements were reached on joint development of new deposits, expansion of cooperation in electricity transit and supply.

• In the transport sector, plans include increasing cargo transportation, simplifying customs procedures, restoring flights between the capitals, and enhancing joint use of the Turkmenbashi seaport.

Humanitarian Cooperation:

• The “Days of Turkmen Culture” held in Urgench and Tashkent were highly appreciated.

• The parties agreed to continue regular concerts, theater tours, youth and academic forums, and joint film projects.

• Cooperation in healthcare, medical science, and education will also expand.

“Order of High-Level Friendship”:

At a special ceremony at Kuksaroy, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded Serdar Berdimuhamedov Uzbekistan’s highest state award — the “Order of High-Level Friendship.”
It was noted that the award symbolizes friendship and mutual trust between the two nations.

Consultative Meeting:

During his visit, the President of Turkmenistan also took part in the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State held in Tashkent.

End of the Visit:

At the conclusion of the high-level talks, both sides reaffirmed their determination to bring bilateral cooperation to new heights.
President Mirziyoyev personally saw President Berdimuhamedov off at the Tashkent–Humo International Airport.
