On August 31, the thirty-second anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan was celebrated in the city of Tashkent. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the celebration and congratulated our people on this auspicious day. The head of our country noted that in the past period, Uzbekistan has endured various tests, gained experience, and formed as a big country with its own clear goal, path, and position. - The daily work you do with love and loyalty to the Motherland serves to further strengthen the independence of Uzbekistan. In this sense, if we say that Independence Day is the holiday of all of us, independent Uzbekistan is the pride of all of us, we will be telling the truth, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Of course, our nation did not achieve independence and today's prosperity easily. In this way, the political and educational aspirations of our ancestors did not stop during the last century and a half. The heroes of the nation who strived for independence were victims of oppression and violence. Thanks to the independence of our country, their pure names are being restored. During the period of the Mustabid regime, the land, strength, and potential of our people were directed only to agriculture. When the word "Uzbek" was used, only hard-working people who worked in the cotton field in the morning and in the evening were imagined. The cotton policy has dried up the island, brought our ecology to a crisis, destroyed our economy and educational system. Today, the principles of market economy have been introduced in cotton farming, forced labor and child labor have been put an end to. The teacher returned to school, the doctor returned to the hospital. Uzbekistan was removed from international "black lists". It is not a secret to anyone that the basis of political independence is primarily economic independence. With hard work and effort, this foundation is being strengthened. This is clearly confirmed by the fact that in the last 6 years, the volume of the gross domestic product in our country has increased by more than 1.5 times, the number of business entities has increased by 2 times, and the growth in industry has exceeded 40 percent. - But we should not compare today with yesterday, but today with tomorrow, and organize our work on this basis. After all, the future begins with the steps we take today, - said the President. It was emphasized that education is the basis of the development of our country, and the work being done in this field was noted. - If we look at our 3,000-year history, we can see that our ancestors made a great contribution to the world civilization not only with their physical but also with their intellectual work. We are the descendants of great people who delivered not only raw materials, but also knowledge and spiritual wealth to the world. Undoubtedly, their great qualities, the glorious traditions they created still live in our hearts, minds, and lives. I believe that we are fully capable of continuing this historical path, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In his speech, the head of state drew public attention to the important issues facing our country today. It was noted that the task of preserving ecology, quickly transitioning to an economy that saves water, energy and other natural resources, and establishing innovative production enterprises is urgent. - We should never forget that natural resources are wealth that belongs to our future generations. Therefore, it is necessary to use them wisely, not only for today, but also for tomorrow, - said the leader of our country. It was emphasized that another important task is to create equal opportunities for women in all spheres of society. Speaking about this, the President remembered the words of our enlightened grandfather Abdurauf Fitrat, who said that women are the mothers of the nation. It was emphasized that humanity has faced severe trials in recent years, and stable development of strong-willed and united nations. - Every child of Uzbekistan should consider fighting for the unity of our people and the integrity of the country as the meaning of his life! "If we are united, we are a single nation, if we unite, we are a motherland," said the President. Emphasis was placed on the fact that our nation has always been a supporter of peace, on the development of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with distant and nearby countries. It was noted that our country is able to solve them together, no matter how huge and complex the tasks ahead are. - It is known from history: a nation that can turn time into an opportunity, an opportunity into an achievement, and an achievement into the foundation of development is a great nation. Today, our hard-working, courageous, noble, kind-hearted nation is taking the field, - said the head of our state.
