“Only the teacher determines our destiny” — Shavkat Mirziyoyev

On the eve of Teachers' and Mentors' Day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited "New Uzbekistan" University to review educational reforms and announce new measures to support educators.
The Head of State announced the establishment of the Abdulla Avloni State Award to recognize outstanding educators across all levels of the education system.
It was also reported that 208 teachers from districts and cities across the country won the inaugural "Teacher of the Year" contest held this year, with each receiving a cash prize of 616 million soums.
The following support measures were outlined for teachers of subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology:
teachers holding a national certificate will receive a 50 percent salary supplement;
leading teachers from 208 districts and cities will receive an annual award of 30 million soums;
1,000 teachers will be sent for professional internships to countries such as the United Kingdom, France, and Singapore;
interest-free loans will be provided to cover university tuition fees for the children of educators with at least 15 years of work experience. At the meeting, Mirziyoyev highlighted the pivotal role of teachers in the country's future, stating, "Only the teacher determines our destiny."
Recalling his own school years, the President noted that students at that time were mobilized for the cotton harvest for four to five months each year.
"We brought our children back from the cotton fields to their school desks, and returned teachers to the educational process," the head of state said.
