On Friday, a prayer for rain will be held in all mosques

At the initiative of the Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Shaykh Nuriddin Holiqnazar, a two-rak'ah istisqa prayer — a prayer asking for rain — will be performed in all mosques after the Friday prayer on November 28. Imams currently performing Umrah have also been advised to hold the istisqa prayer in the Two Holy Mosques.
In regional and city central mosques, as well as at pilgrimage sites, sacrificial animals will be slaughtered, and the meat will be distributed to needy families, orphans, the elderly, and the poor.

Over the past six months, Tashkent has seen rain only three times; the 170 mm recorded in 2025 makes it the second driest period since 1917. According to the “Uzgidromet” forecast, December is expected to be slightly warmer than average, with below-normal rainfall.
