Ombudsman inspects penal colony where Mubashshir Ahmad is being held

Earlier, it was reported that Mubashshir Ahmad’s health had deteriorated sharply in prison. Following his lawyer’s appeal, the regional representative of the Human Rights Commissioner in Navoi region conducted a monitoring visit to penal colony No. 5 and examined the health and conditions of detention of Mubashshir Ahmad (Alisher Tursunov). During the inspection, an independent interview was conducted with the convict and medical documents were reviewed. According to the Ombudsman, Alisher Tursunov did not complain about medical care, was undergoing regular medical supervision and was receiving necessary treatment. He also reported that he was voluntarily recruited to work, and had no objections to working and living conditions, as well as food supply. The Ombudsman’s report notes that the convict did not complain during previous monitoring visits.
