Reports and videos have been circulating on social media about an oil leak in Surkhandarya, where oil is flowing instead of water. At the end of 2025, an oil liquid was recorded at the “M-25” field in the Boysun district of Surkhandarya region. According to the Ministry of Energy, additional protective ponds have been built around the area and along the stream to prevent spread, and the leaked oil is being regularly removed. There are two isolated ponds with a capacity of 5 thousand cubic meters each.
Currently, the situation is under constant control, and work is underway to clean up the oil that has leaked into the canal.
