Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov commented at a press conference on reports about the leak of Uzbek citizens’ personal data. According to him, between January 27 and 30, cyberattacks were carried out on the information systems of three government agencies.

He stated that, contrary to claims circulating on social media about 15 million affected individuals, the data of approximately 60,000 citizens had been leaked. To address the situation, unauthorized access was restricted, passwords of OneID system users were updated, security measures were strengthened, and a mechanism was introduced allowing personal data to be shared or restricted only with the consent of its owner.

Earlier, reports circulated on the Dark Web claiming that the data of at least 15 million citizens had been posted online. Some government agencies denied that their systems had been breached.
