The Botanical Garden belonging to the Academy of Sciences, established in 1950, with an area of 65 hectares, can be transferred to the balance of the state institution "Recreational Parks Management Directorates", which is established under the Tashkent city administration. The project of the Government's decision "On radical improvement of the activity and management system of amusement parks" was published on the project.gov.uz portal, a single electronic system for the development and agreement of draft regulatory documents. The decision stipulates the transfer of 196 amusement parks in the republic to the balance of state institutions of "Directorates for the Management of Amusement Parks" established under the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan and regional governments. The list also includes the Botanical Garden located in Tashkent, the only one in Central Asia. This garden, which has been established for 73 years, is currently on the balance sheet of the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences. This draft decision of the government is causing public objection. The Ecological Party of Uzbekistan expressed its reaction to the draft decision and stated that it is necessary to strengthen the authority and protection of the Botanical Garden by giving it the status of a National Park. According to its charter, this botanical garden under the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a scientific institution. It is a unique scientific and unique object, the largest single one in Asia. The botanical garden was enriched with more than 200 new ornamental species in 2-3 years. At the moment, there are more than 2450 flowering trees and shrubs and medicinal plants in this park. At the same time, collections of rare and endemic plant species and about 40 rare and endangered plants included in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan are being created. The exchange of seeds of ornamental plants with more than 80 foreign countries has been established through the international index system. Currently, 97 employees, including 3 doctors of science, 8 candidates of science, are working in the Botanical Garden. In recent years, 7 doctoral theses and 5 PhD theses have been defended at the base of the Botanical Garden. There are also 3 scientific laboratories. In 2021, the Tashkent Botanic Garden will become the Protection of International Botanical Gardens (Botanic Gardens), which works with 800 botanical gardens in 118 countries and forms the world's largest network of mutual cooperation on plant conservation. It was accepted as a member of Conservation International – BGCI). In the above draft decision, it is envisaged to lease the territory of the amusement parks for the provision of trade and paid services, and to install attractions. This activity has a serious negative impact on the unique flora objects brought from 5 continents of the world kept in the Tashkent Botanical Garden, established as a scientific institution. Therefore, we believe that it is necessary to remove the Botanic Garden from the Cabinet of Ministers draft decision "On the radical improvement of the activity and management system of recreational parks" and to strengthen its prestige and protection by giving it the status of a National Park. in relation to the party. It was added that on this issue, a parliamentary request was sent to the Government on behalf of the faction of the party in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
