North Korean media reported that the country closed its embassies in Uganda and Angola in October.

According to Bloomberg, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un may be determined to get more money through arms deals with the Kremlin rather than through diplomatic missions.

Pyongyang also plans to close its consulate in Hong Kong and more than a dozen diplomatic missions in Africa, as well as its embassy in Spain.

According to people in South Korea, due to the global sanctions that are "draining the coffers" of Kim Jong-un, the budget of the DPRK does not have enough money to maintain all diplomatic offices. Currently, there are 47 embassies, three consulates and three representative offices in Pyongyang.
