Nicholas Hoult to play Gilderoy Lockhart in the new “Harry Potter” series

Nicholas Hoult, known for films such as Nosferatu and The Menu, will portray Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO’s new Harry Potter series. HBO officially confirmed the casting.

The actor will appear in the second season of the series. Hoult will take on the role of the famous professor previously played by Kenneth Branagh in the films.

Filming for the second season is scheduled to begin in the fall, before the premiere of the first season.

The first season will premiere on December 25, 2026. Harry Potter will be played by Dominic McLaughlin, Ron Weasley by Alastair Stout, and Hermione Granger by Arabella Stanton. John Lithgow will portray Professor Dumbledore, while Nick Frost will play Hagrid.

The series’ music will be composed by renowned composer Hans Zimmer.
