New “Lilo & Stitch” Project Announced
The popular “Lilo & Stitch” franchise continues to expand. While work is underway on the sequel, the creators are also preparing another new project for audiences — an animated short film. According to Variety, the project is titled “Lilo & Scratch.”
Director Faun Virasuntorn stated that it will be the first brand-new animated short produced specifically for theatrical release in the past five years.
The new film will follow Stitch’s next adventure. The story begins when Lilo brings a cat home, and Stitch tries to get along with the new “member of the family.”
Fans will also be pleased to learn that Chris Sanders, the longtime voice of Stitch, will once again lend his voice to the beloved character.
However, actress Daveigh Chase, who voiced Lilo, passed away on June 18 at the age of 35. As a result, no information has yet been released about who will voice Lilo in the new project.
The premiere date of the animated short has not yet been announced.
It is worth noting that the 2025 film “Lilo & Stitch” was a major success and became one of the highest-grossing films of the year.
