In each mahalla of our country, groups of mahalla (neighborhood) control will be created, whose members will be elected every five years, the correspondent reports Podrobno.uz with reference to the legal portal "Norm".
The mahalla control groups will be headed by the chairman of the mahalla himself. In addition to him, they will include a deputy, a secretary and members of the group, which can be citizens with exemplary behavior, extensive life experience, including representatives of NGOs, the media and other civil society institutions. Government officials are not accepted into the group.
An important criterion when creating groups is compliance with the principles of gender equality and inclusiveness. The members of the group will be elected by a gathering of citizens every 5 years.
In their work, the groups will study the opinions of the public when adopting regulatory legal acts and state programs, monitor compliance by state agencies with the law when protecting the rights, freedoms and interests of citizens, monitor the activities of khokim assistants, youth leaders, women's activists and prevention inspectors.
The chairman of the mahalla, who will now lead the mahalla control group, will have the right to request information from government officials and demand explanations on issues within their competence. The request, the response time for which is 15 days, should relate to the activities of the citizens' gathering.
