Navoi Monument Unveiled in Osh as Street Receives Main Avenue Status

In the city of Osh, Kyrgyzstan, a ceremonial opening took place for a main avenue named after the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi, along with the unveiling of his monument. This was reported by the “Dunyo” news agency. The event was attended by a delegation led by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov, as well as representatives of Kyrgyzstan’s state and public organizations. The ceremony began with the unveiling of the Navoi monument and the laying of wreaths at its base, followed by a concert program featuring Uzbek and Kyrgyz artists.

Officials emphasized that Alisher Navoi’s legacy is an important spiritual value that brings the Uzbek and Kyrgyz peoples closer together. According to the city mayor, a park and monument named after Navoi have existed in Osh since 1968, and in recent years the street has been reconstructed and granted the status of a main avenue. Within the framework of the event, issues of cultural cooperation between the two countries were also discussed. In addition, Osh Mayor Jyenishbek Toktorbayev was awarded the “Friendship” Order in accordance with a decree of the President of Uzbekistan.
