The norm of nitrogen oxide (IV) content in the air of Baku was exceeded by 1.4 times.
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has disseminated a message on the quality of atmospheric air in Baku and Sumgayit.
"Atmospheric air quality is monitored daily through automatic stations that analyze its condition around the clock. The stations are located in the Sabail, Khatai, Nizami, Narimanov districts of Baku, the cities of Sumgayit and Ganja," the report says.
It is noted that based on the analysis of data received from the stations, it was found that in the city of Baku the content of carbon monoxide exceeds the norm by 1.5 times, nitrogen oxide (IV) - 1.4 times, and in Sumgayit nitrogen oxide (IV) - 1.1 times.
The reasons for the excess of carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide (IV) are the intensity of the traffic flow, the activities of industrial enterprises and other anthropogenic factors, the ministry said.
