Trump announced that a secret “Discombulator” weapon was used in the January 3 operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Trump said in an interview with the New York Post that the weapon temporarily disabled military equipment made in Russia and China.
According to CNN and other sources, the weapon has an effect that can cause symptoms similar to “Havana Syndrome” (dizziness, earache, feeling of pressure). During the operation, Maduro’s guards suffered nosebleeds and fainting. A witness to the operation said that “at one point they set off something. I don’t know how to describe it. It was like a very strong sound wave. Suddenly my head was exploding from the inside.” According to the Venezuelan Ministry of Defense, 83 people were killed during the raid.
