Nikita Zhuravel, a 19-year-old resident of Volgograd arrested for burning the Koran, said that Adam, the son of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, beat him in the pre-trial detention center in Grozny. He sent an appeal to the Commissioner for Human Rights Tatiana Moskalkova, she told about it in Telegram.
In his appeal, Zhuravel said that Adam Kadyrov beat him in a pre-trial detention center during a visit.
Moskalkova claims that she has already appealed to the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Chechen Republic, Mansur Soltaev, with a request to conduct an inspection and pay attention to the medical examination of beatings and witness testimony.
As a source connected with the Chechen FSIN staff told the Telegram channel Sota, Zhuravel was beaten on August 15 after Ramzan Kadyrov visited him. According to the interlocutor, the son of the head of Chechnya specifically stayed in the cell to beat Zhuravel.
On May 22, the Volgograd court arrested 19-year-old Nikita Zhuravel for two months. RIA Novosti published a video in which a Volgograd resident apologized to the Muslims of the world and said that the burning of the Koran was "a very bad act." During the interrogation, Zhuravel said that he burned the Koran "on the instructions of the special services of Ukraine for a reward of 10 thousand rubles" and handed over the recording of the action to an employee of the SBU. The case was transferred to the Chechen Republic, the student was taken to Grozny. Human rights activists and a lawyer interviewed by The Insider believe that the decision to transfer the case to Chechnya was made to intimidate people and give Ramzan Kadyrov the right to prosecute anyone who encroaches on Islam in Russia.
