More than 670 million tenge of budget funds were stolen during the repair of the Balkhash thermal power plant

Officials of "Balkhash Zhylu" LLP are suspected of embezzlement of budget funds in the total amount of 677 million tenge, the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported. It was established that the former management of "Balkhash Zhylu" LLP in the period from June 2020 to January 2023 committed embezzlement of budget funds in the amount of 677 million tenge intended for the repair and maintenance of the Balkhash thermal power plant and Balkhash heat supply networks by transfers to personal accounts and accounts of pseudo-enterprises. The suspects were detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center. The preventive measure "detention" for a period of two months has been authorized. The investigation is ongoing.
