More than 643 billion UZS in budget funds embezzled — case exposed
The Department under the General Prosecutor’s Office has uncovered a large-scale embezzlement case involving officials of the Tax Committee, “Uzbekneftegaz,” and several private companies.
According to reports, the officials conspired and, within the framework of the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex expansion project, illegally included VAT amounts in electronic invoices for services that were exempt from VAT.
As a result, 643.2 billion UZS was unlawfully refunded from the state budget, causing significant damage to the state.
A criminal case has been initiated under the Criminal Code article related to embezzlement or misappropriation. Investigative actions are currently ongoing.
