More than 50 vehicles collide in Japan

A major traffic accident involving more than 50 vehicles occurred in Japan’s Gunma Prefecture. At least one person was killed and more than 26 people were injured. The crash took place on the Kan-Etsu Expressway near the city of Minakami.

According to preliminary reports, a large truck skidded and stopped due to heavy snow, after which following vehicles crashed into it. As a result of the collisions, at least 10 cars caught fire.

Rescue services reported that the victim was an elderly woman, and five of the injured were hospitalized in serious condition. Traffic on some sections of the expressway was temporarily suspended due to the accident.
