Mirziyoyev: "the process of formation of a new Central Asia has begun”

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke at the general political debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. He noted the need to strengthen the UN's role as a key platform against the backdrop of global crises and called for the expansion and transformation of the Security Council.
Mirziyoyev noted a sharp increase in the volume of trade, investment and transport in Central Asia, saying that “the process of formation of a new Central Asia has begun.” He proposed to implement new programs in the region in cooperation with the UN on “green” technologies, water resource management, transport dependence, ecology and the fight against terrorism.

The head of state also touched on the situations around Afghanistan, Gaza and Ukraine, called for peace and proposed the establishment of the “movement of World Youth Towards Peace”in order to instill ideas of peace and friendship in the younger generation.
