The President noted that Uzbekistan and the whole of Central Asia are one of the regions most affected by the consequences of climate change in the world. In his speech, the President warmly congratulated all the participants on the tenth anniversary of the Makon va Yol initiative. It was noted that this ambitious idea aimed at restoring the Great Silk Road has gained many supporters in a historically short period of time and has become a new model of international cooperation. As a comprehensive strategic partner of China, Uzbekistan was one of the first to support the "Space and Road" initiative and is a firm supporter of further advancing the main goals and objectives of this initiative. The head of our state emphasized that the "Green Silk Road" initiative will shape the general "green" agenda of the future with attention to its essence. Uzbekistan fully supports this initiative, which was first put forward by the President of the PRC Xi Jinping in 2016 in our country. Referring to the complex ecological situation in our region, manifested in the form of anomalous weather conditions, frequent droughts and dust storms, rapid land degradation and desertification, loss of biodiversity , the head of our state noted that Central Asia is one of the regions most affected by the consequences of climate change in the world. It was noted that within the framework of the special resolution adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations, Uzbekistan is implementing a large-scale program on the creation of ecological innovation and technology areas on the Aral Bay. In this sense, the results of the summit of major tasks related to climate change, which was held in September of this year at the initiative of the UN Secretary General, were highly appreciated. In order to exchange ideas and unite efforts to achieve goals in the field of "green" development in Central Asia, the head of Uzbekistan took the initiative to hold the Samarkand International Climate Forum in 2024. "We hope that this forum will serve as a practical step in organizing the Samarkand Dialogue for the Future to find answers to global threats to sustainable development," said the President. It was noted that our country is interested in the development of large-scale international cooperation within the framework of the "Green Silk Road". In this regard, the leader of Uzbekistan shared his thoughts on further strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation with China and other participants of the Makon va Yol initiative. Transformation and digitization of economic sectors based on the requirements of "green" development, creation of stable infrastructure in the transport and energy sectors, "green" It was proposed to develop a "Green" development program, which includes measures and projects to launch industrial capacities, reduce poverty, and develop "smart" agriculture. Another important task in building the "Green Silk Road" is the development of "green" production chains and innovations. Together with the leading Chinese companies and involving other foreign partners, readiness was expressed to establish a special model technological park in the Aral Bay region for the implementation of programs of significant social importance in the industrial sector and on the basis of the wide introduction of "green technologies". The head of our state proposed the establishment of the "Green financing" fund in Uzbekistan in order to develop a low-carbon economy and "clean" technologies, as well as to introduce high environmental standards in the countries of the region. Also, the leader of Uzbekistan called for reduction of restrictions and obstacles in mutual trade of "green" products, especially agricultural products. It was proposed to activate the dialogue on the transition to "green" energy and hold regular meetings of the ministers of the countries that joined the "Makon va yol" initiative. The President of Uzbekistan put forward the initiative to launch a scientific and informational platform for the transfer of "green" knowledge and solutions on the basis of the Aral Bay International Innovation Center.
Taking into account the increasing shortage of qualified personnel for the field of "green" development and ecology, the head of our state, on the basis of the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies, in cooperation with leading foreign universities and educational centers in the field of "green" development and ecology proposed to develop a joint program for training specialists and development of academic exchange. In addition, the President touched on the issue of careful treatment of natural resources and the environment. To launch the Global program for the development of "green" culture, which involves holding ethno-ecological festivals, forums, presentations and other events with the participation of well-known public figures, representatives of science, business and culture within the framework of the "One Place, One Way" initiative. suggested. At the end of his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his confidence that the results of the forum, the ideas and suggestions expressed in it will be an important contribution to building a "green" future of humanity.
