The total turnover of foreign trade of Tajikistan for the first half of 2023 decreased by 2.8% and formed at the level of $3.4 billion
Russia remains the main partner of Tajikistan in foreign economic activity.
This was announced during a press conference by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic Ashurboy Solehzoda.
The percentage of Tajikistan's trade with the Russian side for the first 6 months of this year is 24.8% of the total volume.
The country also traded with China (20.6%), Kazakhstan (16.4%), Uzbekistan (6.5%), Turkey (5.2%).
The volume of trade with other countries has developed at the level of:
USA - 4.1%;
Iran - 3.3%;
Germany - 2.7%;
Japan - 2.5;
India and Belarus - 1.4%;
Afghanistan and Korea - 1.2%;
Pakistan - 1.1%.
The total foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan for 6 months amounted to 3.4 billion dollars, compared to the same period last year, having decreased by 2.8%, or 98.2 million dollars.
Meanwhile, according to Salekhzoda, the export of goods in January-June 2023 amounted to $678.6 million, thus decreasing by 44.2% or $536.6 million compared to the same period last year.
The EAEU countries are the main trading partners of Tajikistan
The main reason for the decline in the foreign trade index is the decrease in the volume of exports of precious metals, minerals, cotton fiber and primary aluminum.
During this period, imports of goods amounted to $2.7 billion, which is 19.1% more, or $438.4 million compared to January-June 2022.
