Ministers of Higher Education and School Education appointed to new positions.

Qong‘irotboy Sharipov has been appointed Rector of Tashkent State University of Economics, while E’zozxon Karimova has been appointed First Deputy Head of the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment.

Prior to this, Qong‘irotboy Sharipov served as the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations of Uzbekistan, a position to which he was appointed in February 2024. Sharipov holds the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences and the academic rank of professor. He had previously served as Rector of Tashkent State University of Economics before becoming a minister. E’zozxon Karimova had been serving as the Minister of Preschool and School Education since August 2025; she has now assumed the role of First Deputy Head of the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment.

These appointments follow structural changes within the education system. Under a presidential decree, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations have been reorganized into a single Ministry of Education and Science.
The primary goal of this reform is to develop education, upbringing, and science within a unified system, enhance the quality and effectiveness of education, and foster human capital development. Ilhom Sirojev has also been appointed Deputy Minister of Education and Science for Compliance and Internal Anti-Corruption Control. Previously, he served as the Deputy to the Head of the Presidential Administration for Education Reform.
