Millions of crabs march to the sea on Christmas Island

On Christmas Island, located near Australia, the annual egg-laying season has begun, prompting tens of millions of red crabs to head toward the ocean.
Every summer, around 50 million crabs emerge from the forests and move toward the coast, turning the island’s roads and trails bright red.
To help the crabs cross safely, special bridges and underpasses have been built across the island.
