Azerbaijan is interested in the speedy implementation of projects with Kazakhstan for the supply of Kazakh-made railway locomotives to Azerbaijan and the supply of Azerbaijani ships to Kazakhstan.

According to Report, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said this during a meeting with the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Alim Bael.

During the conversation, the minister stressed the importance of digitalization of the Middle Corridor and the creation of a "single window" in the field of transport logistics.

M. Jabbarov confirmed his country's interest in accelerating Kazakh-Azerbaijani economic cooperation in the current geo-economic situation.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan, in turn, said that economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is reaching a new level.

A. Bayel noted that the mutual visits of the heads of state in 2022 and 2023 marked a new stage in bilateral cooperation. The diplomat stressed the fruitfulness of the official visit of Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov to Azerbaijan in June, following which 11 joint documents were signed.

Particular importance is attached to documents on the establishment of a joint venture by the administrations of the railways of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia, on the establishment of a joint venture to lay a fiber-optic line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, as well as on an increase in the volume of transportation of Kazakh oil through Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that Kazakhstan is ready to increase exports to Azerbaijan by 100 commodity items in the amount of more than 300 million US dollars and bring bilateral trade to 1 billion US dollars. In January-May 2023, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan increased by 50% - from $162.5 million to $243.6 million - compared to the same period in 2022. Since the beginning of 2023, the trade turnover along the Middle Corridor has exceeded 1 million tons, an increase of 64%.

Last month, the two countries also announced an increase in mutual flights from 32 to 42 per week.
