Middle East Tensions Rise: Hezbollah, Israel Strike
The Lebanese Hezbollah group fired rockets into Israeli territory on the night of March 2. The group said in a statement that the attacks were in retaliation for the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The Israeli military responded by striking Hezbollah targets across Lebanon, including in southern Beirut. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called the rocket launch from the south of the country an irresponsible and security threat.
The attack was the first attack launched from Lebanese territory since the US and Israel began their strikes on Iran.
