❗️ Metapneumovirus outbreak in China

Human metapneumovirus cases have been reported in many parts of China, and the spread is steadily increasing. The virus has been particularly prevalent among children. Photos and videos of people wearing masks in hospitals in China have appeared on social media, and local reports say scenes of the HMPV outbreak resemble those of the early COVID outbreak. The virus has overwhelmed hospitals. The virus has also spread to Kazakhstan, where authorities said 30 cases of metapneumovirus have been reported since October 1, one of the classic viruses.

🦠 Metapneumovirus or HMPV is a virus that causes respiratory infections that cause symptoms similar to the common cold and flu and is spread from person to person mainly through airborne droplets (through coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, or saliva from an infected person).
Although the disease is often mild, it can lead to serious complications, such as pneumonia, especially in infants, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.
