Massive fire in Japan destroys 170 homes

A massive fire broke out in the Japanese city of Oita, destroying more than 170 homes and killing one person. The fire began on the evening of November 18 in the Saganoseki district and spread rapidly due to strong winds.
The blaze covered an area of 48,900 square meters (equivalent to seven football fields). Firefighters and military helicopters were deployed to extinguish the flames.

A total of 175 residents were evacuated, and nearly 300 homes were left without electricity. One person was found dead, and a woman with minor burns was hospitalized. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Experts say this is Japan’s largest urban fire since 1976.
