Mass poisoning of children in kindergartens in Fergana

Pupils of several state preschool educational organizations in Fergana were hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning. The situation was officially confirmed by the regional health department.

It was reported that the children had symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, weakness, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The initial complaints were registered on February 20. According to the parents, the children's health deteriorated after returning home. Some citizens suspect that the poisoning may be food-related. Information circulating on social networks also mentions suspicions that meat products were the cause.

According to official information, a total of 62 children were hospitalized in the Infectious Diseases Hospital since the evening of February 21. Doctors diagnosed them with "acute diarrhea, alimentary etiology." The children are currently reported to be in a stable and positive state of health.

It was also reported that food was delivered to these kindergartens through a catering system. According to open sources, the food was delivered by Garden Catering Trade LLC, operating in the city of Kuvasoy.

Specialists from the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health have begun an investigation into the incident. Laboratory samples are being taken from the kindergarten canteens and the food supplier and are being analyzed. The responsible authorities said that the final conclusion on the causes of the poisoning will be announced after the results of the investigation.
