Marriage reduces cancer risk – study
People who have never been married may be more likely to develop cancer than those who are married, according to a large study in the United States. The results of the study were published in the journal Cancer Research Communications (CRC).
The analysis found that single men were 68 percent more likely to develop cancer than women, and 85 percent more likely to develop cancer.
However, scientists note that marriage itself does not provide direct protection, but that the difference may be related to factors such as lifestyle, stress, unhealthy habits and regular medical check-ups.
The difference is quite significant for some types of cancer, while for others it is almost non-existent. The study does not prove definitive cause and effect, but only suggests a connection.
