Man who lost his nose has a new one grown on his forehead

In Iraq, a technician who completely lost his nose after suffering an electric shock underwent a rare reconstructive surgery.

Doctors first implanted cartilage taken from the patient's own body into his forehead. There, the cartilage developed its own blood supply and gradually grew into viable tissue. It was then transplanted to the nasal area to create a new nose.

According to specialists, although the procedure is highly complex, using the patient's own tissue significantly increases the likelihood that the new nose will be successfully accepted by the body.

While it may sound like something from a science fiction film, this is one of the modern reconstructive surgery techniques that, although rarely performed, has been successfully used in real medical practice.
