Man Who Locked His Wife in a Basement to Stop Her from Attending a Wedding Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

In Tashkent’s Yashnobod district, a 41-year-old former serviceman was sentenced to three years and one month in prison for committing violence against his wife.

The court found that on July 26, 2025, the man locked his wife in the basement of an apartment building to prevent her from attending her relatives’ wedding in Samarkand. The woman was kept in a dark and damp place for an entire day without food or water. Later, the man beat her again, causing bodily injuries.

The court found the man guilty of unlawful deprivation of liberty and domestic violence. He was taken into custody in the courtroom, and the sentence will be served in a settlement colony.
