Man stabs police officer in Yunusabad

A mentally ill man stabbed a police officer in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent. The incident occurred on May 19 in the Yunusabad Dehkan Bazaar area. An officer on duty in the area stopped a citizen passing by near an underground passageway and was checking him, when the citizen suddenly attacked the officer with a knife, injuring him in the neck. The officer was rushed to the hospital and survived. The suspect was arrested. It turned out that he had been on the list of mental health patients for 20 years.
A criminal case has been opened and an investigation is underway.
