Man sentenced to life in prison for attempted assassination of Trump

Ryan Rout, 59, who attempted to assassinate US President Donald Trump at a golf club in Florida in 2024, has been sentenced to life in prison, the BBC reported.
A US Secret Service officer spotted a rifle in the bushes and fired. Rout then tried to flee but was captured nearby. Judge Eileen Cannon said Rout's actions "fully merited a life sentence." She said the defendant had been planning the assassination for months and had shown no remorse.
The incident was the second recorded attempt on Trump in 2024.
